Experience

Derrick DeGroot is a Klamath County Commissioner first elected to the Board in 2016 and reelected in 2020 focusing on economic development and growth. DeGroot serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the O&C Counties, Second Vice President of the Association of Oregon Counties and is on the Community, Economic Development and workforce Committee for the National Association of Counties as well as Chair of the South Central Oregon Area Commission on Transportation.

Family

Derrick was born and raised in Klamath County and a graduate of Klamath Union High School.  After serving in the United States Navy Derrick returned home and began a career in finance before entering into public service. 

Derrick lives with his wife Teri of over 23 years and has three children Darrin, Dylan and Annie.  Derrick spends his free time volunteering working with fellow Veterans and spending time in the outdoors.
